The Matatabi Braided Cotton Cat Chew Toy

This 70-centimeter cotton rope toy delivers hours of silent enrichment through two matatabi (silvervine) beads attached to its tassels—a natural attractant that often outperforms traditional catnip for cats who prefer vigorous chewing and solo play. The flexible braided cotton stands up to aggressive gnawing while staying soft on gums, bending into loops and arcs that invite batting, dragging, and mouth-grabbing across the floor.

The rope features red, purple, and orange segments chosen specifically for the feline color spectrum, and the silent design means no bells or crinkle paper—ideal for late-night zoomies without disrupting your home. At approximately 33 grams, it's lightweight enough for cats to manipulate easily, yet substantial enough for extended engagement.

Care: Store in a sealed bag between play sessions to preserve the silvervine scent. Rinse gently in cold water if needed and air dry flat; do not machine wash.

Important: Supervise initial play to ensure your cat chews rather than swallows fragments. Not recommended for pregnant or nursing cats, or kittens under eight weeks old. The toy works best when rotated in and out of your cat's toy rotation to maintain novelty and scent potency.
